International Women’s Day
International Women’s Day is a day to celebrate, recognise and bring together women and girls from all walks of life to discuss gender issues still facing society today. It is celebrated worldwide each year on 8th March, with events happening across the country (and beyond).
Every year, Bristol Women’s Voice host the city’s biggest free International Women’s Day celebrations. Find out what’s happening and how you can join us or even get involved.
Why is International Women’s Day important?
Every year we hear people ask why International Women’s Day is needed, when so much progress has been made towards gender equality in Western society. In reality – the fact that people are asking this question is an answer in itself!
International Women’s Day aims to raise awareness of the issues and injustices impacting women every day, and tackle misogyny both here in the UK and around the world. It marks a global call to action to strive for true gender parity and ensure all women are heard. It’s also a chance to support and celebrate one another, and get to know women in our communities and beyond.
