On 6 May 2021, residents of Bristol and the wider region will take to the polls to vote for the next Mayor of Bristol. Bristol’s elected mayor has responsibility for all major policy positions and oversees the budget; they can also appoint cabinet members (there’s a helpful explainer on Bristol Cable website here).
Bristol Women’s Commission (a Mayoral commission) and Bristol Women’s Voice have worked closely with previous Mayors to tackle gender inequality in the city so asked the Bristol Mayor candidates* whether they would continue to work together on this and what steps they’d take to support women and girls in the city.
